New Jersey Symphony. Jose Luis Dominguez, conductor; Timonty Lien, clarinet. June 28 & July 1, 2023.

Raritan Bay Waterfront Park, South Amboy (June 28, 2023).  Free.
Marine Park, Red Bank (July 1, 2023).  Free.

The Waterfront Park concert concluded at around 8:50 pm, about 15 minutes after sunset.

Sailboats from Perth Amboy and Keyport race on Wednesdays.  Quite a few of them in the bay as the concert was about to begin.

A decent crowd for the event.  Our development was blocked off so our streets won't be overwhelmed with parked cars.

The crowd stood for the National Anthem.  Marine Park, Red Bank.

Quite a crowd.  I was surprised there were no street vendors.

The NJS Youth Orchestra Concerto winner Timothy Lien performed a movement from Spohr's Clarinet Concerto.  These would be Dominguez's last appearances with the NJ Symphony.  His replacement as the director of the NJ Youth Symphony director has been named.

The Programs for the two evenings.  NJS did around five of these outdoor concerts.

The last time we went to a NJ Symphony outdoor concert was June 30, 2019, so it's been quite a few years.  The COVID pandemic resulted in a pause of several years.  As far as I know, they resumed this year.

For the first time, the park behind our house was one of the locations for these free concerts, and we are happy for our town.

The program was basically repeated at the July 1 Red Bank Marine Park event, with the exception of a young clarinetist Timothy Lien, who won a recent competition.  We spent the evening on the boat, and I walked over to listen to the solo piece.

It was good to see the concerts resume.
